Dr Amir Burney
Dr. Amir Burney is a highly accomplished medical professional with a rich background in medical education, surgery, sports and exercise medicine.
He is currently working as the Director for Studies (Phase 2b), Senior University Teacher and Lead for Speciality Foundation Programme South Yorkshire (Medical Education Rotation) at the School of Medicine and Population Health, University of Sheffield. Dr. Burney plays a pivotal role in shaping the clinical education of undergraduate medical students.
He is the Founding President of Association of Pakistani Physicians of Northern Europe (APPNE) and also served as its First President from 2019 to 2021. During his tenure, APPNE signed the following MOUs:

Dr. Burney is deeply involved in various organisational and philanthropic activities including social, national and international charitable causes.
Dr. Burney has an immense passion for arts and music. He himself is a proficient piano player and is committed to promoting artists from the British Asian community and beyond. His dedication is evident in the numerous musical events he has organised, both independently and in collaboration with various organisations.

As the Director for Studies (Phase 2b), Dr. Amir Burney oversees the clinical education of third-year undergraduate medical students, managing curriculum development, clinical placements, academic and pastoral support, and assessments, including written exams and OSCEs. Additionally, he serves as the Academic Lead for Clinical Skills at the University of Sheffield, overseeing curriculum planning, delivery, and assessment development. Dr. Burney also tutors for the School of Nursing and the School of Dentistry, and leads the Specialised Foundation Programme Medical Education Placement in South Yorkshire.

APPNE Founding President
Dr. Amir Burney was the Founding President of Association of Pakistani Physicians of Northern Europe (APPNE), leading an organization with over 1400 members across the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, and Germany, comprising doctors, medical students, and allied healthcare professionals.
Greatest Contribution to Teaching Award
Dr. Amir Burney received the Greatest Contribution to Teaching Award for three consecutive years (2015, 2016, 2017) as voted by medical students and awarded by the University of Sheffield Medical Society (MedSoc).
