- Organizing fundraising events for the Indus Healthcare Network in August 2019 and 2022.
- Supporting Midland Doctors UK through fundraising efforts in 2019 and 2020.
- Led a successful campaign for Macmillan Cancer Research, raising an impressive £6,380 during their Brave the Shave initiative.
- Fundraising for Wellbeing of Women, UK in 2018.
- Member of the NHS Volunteer Responders (Royal Volunteer Service) during the pandemic.
- As a member of the British Islamic Medical Association (BIMA), Dr. Burney has organised and delivered a number of health related sessions for local communities in the East Midlands.
- In 2020, the Lifesavers Project was delivered online with great success, given the circumstances surrounding the pandemic.
- In his capacity as the Vice Chair of Creative Minds Society (Nottingham), Dr. Amir Burney collaborates with a team dedicated to promoting creative arts, encompassing prose, poetry, and visual art, across all age groups and diasporas.
- Under his leadership, Dr Amir Burney successfully organized and hosted the first-ever talent show in the East Midlands in 2019, drawing significant attendance from diverse communities.
Community Engagement during Covid 19
Amid the unprecedented challenges posed by the pandemic, Amir mobilized efforts to raise awareness and support within the community. Activities included:
- Utilizing various media platforms to disseminate information on COVID-19 precautions and governmental guidelines
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals to promote vaccination awareness and uptake
- Advocating for essential resources such as PPE and addressing pertinent issues affecting healthcare workers, including international medical graduates
Promotion of Vaccination Uptake:
Amir is actively involved in initiatives aimed at educating the British Asian community, particularly Pakistanis, about the importance of vaccination and booster doses. This includes facilitating educational programs on prominent TV channels and radio stations.
